The Best Day: Embracing Change and Education
Can you believe it? It's already December! How time flies by and how a lot can happen in a short time!
On the current events side, let alone for the past 24-48 hours of December 3rd, the Taal Volcano erupted leading to an ashfall alert, to celebrities allegedly being a part of an investment scam, to South Korea declaring emergency Martial Law, biggest celebrity cheating scandal posted with receipts, and South Korean parliament voted to lift Martial Law after 4 hours. Crazy, I know.
Amid the global chaos, my little corner of the world is crazy in a good way. I finally purchased my own laptop after nearly a decade since my last Toshiba.
Surprisingly, my down payment for this was only a thousand and five hundred Philippine pesos (PhP) and a monthly payment of two thousand and three hundred PhP for 15 months, and I'm thankful for my Home Credit; it truly saved me a lot.
Now, I can access useful and entertaining sites such as Canva, Netflix, and all without getting anxious on being caught by IT. As well as for me to do my online classes for my MBA program.
You read it right! I'm officially enrolled for an MBA program a few hours ago- I got my student number, student email, and online library access! Years of dreaming to pursue a higher education has finally been acted upon by me.
I had faced numerous life challenges, personal and financial, over the years that hindered me to fully push through on at least enrolling myself to a Master's degree.
Although I may have deprioritized it before, I knew that someday I would need to act on that dream.
What fueled the fire within me was seeing the determination of my close friends to pursue and finish their Master’s degrees. Their accomplishments have inspired me to make a decision that this is the right time to go for that MBA studies.
Now that I am more financially capable of supporting myself in terms of school tuition and tools needed to aid my study, I became more assured in submitting applications to universities.
And so I looked into several universities that offered MBA, checked the curriculum and requirements that would best suit my current work schedule, and how I would want my career to progress in the near future.
I'm not going to lie...
I wasn't confident with the requirement "must have a good academic standing".
I wasn't a College or University Scholar or commonly known as Dean's Lister back then. I was quite carefree and enjoyed my university days [perhaps a tad bit too much as some would say] since I was in my dream school.
In my mind, I still have to try as I have started gathering my requirements for admission. What could go wrong, anyway?
With that, I sent a request for my GWA calculation. Voila~! I got a higher grade than I was expecting. I was too focused on my 5.0 (failing grade) that I forgot most of my final grades were actually pretty good.
Days after sending my application and requirements, I received an email confirming my admission and then I proceeded with the enrolment process.
An almost unbelievable step, but it has come to reality, indeed! How it was just a dream and with not enough means to finance my graduate studies.
Now, as I embark on this exciting new chapter of my life, I can’t help but feel grateful for the journey that led me here. Crazy, isn't it? :-)
